Weekly Wrap-up: The Show Must Go On!

Welcome to Anime Parlay! I’m the Captain and it sure is Monday! I lost a fight with a can of tuna this morning as well as our Ninja Blender. One mess after another was not how I wanted to start my day but sometimes that’s just how the dice come up. I rolled a “1” on preparing lunch for my wife and that happens. I feel like I’ve been rolling pretty low all weekend but I am told it’s almost all in my head. That’s a relief.

I actually meant to write the Weekly Wrap-up on Friday but what I can only describe as a pure lack of motivation amplified by front of anxiety and anger. Needless to say I know my limits and decided to lay low until this storm of self-doubt and regret passed over. Oh, to be a fallible human being! Regardless, I am starting to feel like the best of myself again and that’s how it should be. We observe, we adapt, and we succeed.

A sincere and special thank you to those of you who messaged me over the weekend to check in. I am just a dude, writing anonymously on the internet and you made me feel like a member of your crew. That is a special feeling and it means a lot to hear from you. Never change, you kind punks! Let’s get this wrap-up rolling!

Here’s what you missed this last week:

Ultimate World-Building: Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (Season 1) – This is officially the MOST popular post on the blog. I’m not sure what I did right but I am definitely going to be trying to go more in depth in other settings soon enough. If you’ve never had a chance to watch a Gundam show, Gundam 00 is one of the easiest to get into because the geo-political conflicts are the same ones we have now but 300 years later. Learn more by having a read!

The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Review #3 – An Indomitable Prodigy – Galactic Heroes is in full swing and episode 3 opened up more details about the dominating will of the Galactic Empire. Tuesday is Galactic Heroes day on Anime Parlay so be ready for a new review coming tomorrow, after I finish the episode. I can only imagine how many times I’ll say “Oh shit!” with tomorrow’s episode. Stoked!

Check It Out: The Alchemist Code – The Alchemist Code is HOT in the app stores on your mobile devices and if you’re a fan of tactical RPGs; Do NOT miss this one. Great art accompanied by a rich combat system with indefinite replay value. This is a great game and you should give it a shot!

Trigun Review #5 – Hard Puncher – Episode 5 of Trigun really brought the Humanoid Typhoon out of Vash and I was excited to FINALLY see an old hero of mine back in action. I got a little emotional, especially with recent events in mind, but Trigun is starting to shake off the rust and blow me away like I remembered!

Coming Soon to Anime Parlay!

  • Galactic Heroes + Trigun Reviews : You know they’re coming. See you on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, for those posts!
  • Hentai themed Personal Post: Why not? Let’s talk about sex! Like adults. I don’t want to say more than that but it should be worth a read. It might be the only hentai post in the blog-sphere to spin perversion in a healthy way? Who knows? We’re going there and no, I’m not sorry in advance!
  • AMVs and Music: I love AMVs. I also LOVE music. Doesn’t matter what kind of music, I like it all. I have been brainstorming a way to share music that I like to listen to while writing while showing off some great AMVs for that artist(s). More to follow on that but it should be visually WONDERFUL. Audio-wise, completely subjective. You’ll have to decide on the music on your own.

Special Shout-Outs!

  • 100 Word Anime – This week my Ultimate World-Building post on Gundam 00 got a boost over at the 100 Word Anime blog! Thank you! I write to write but it means a lot to be recognized for my labors. If my post was art by a second grader, 100 Word Anime put it on the fridge! I am honored!

AMV of LAST Week

When I was younger, I had a tendency to embrace the light. I swayed away from negativity, hate, anger. I’d like to think it was my blissfully ignorant phase. Now, adulthood, especially in our time, is a challenge. Darkness is all around us and I have come to accept that as inevitability. Like most things I will suggest to you on the blog; Steer into it. This weekend, I really embraced those negative, dark emotions until I could sort them out. By the end of it, I felt better for having wrestled with my demons. Because of that, I wanted to share an AMV I was lucky enough to see at Sakura-Con 2017. It’s called “Numinous” by YouTuber MrNosec. It beautifully ties in the madness, suffering, and all around distortion of Evangelion (the newer one? I’m behind) and does it with 60 FPS. Hot damn!

So enjoy, take care of yourself, and we’ll see you tomorrow for hunky intergalactic heroes! Aloha!
